Nigeria has claimed fifth place in the latest global rankings of average penis size, according to a report by Data Pandas, an online library of health and demographic datasets.
The report, based on a comprehensive review of existing studies published in the journal BJU International Sexual Medicine, places Nigeria’s average erect length at an impressive 6.69 inches. This positions the West African nation among the top performers globally, alongside other countries in Africa and South America.
Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo lead the rankings with averages of 7.07 inches and 7.05 inches, respectively. Ecuador follows in third place with 6.93 inches, while Ghana ranks just ahead of Nigeria in fourth at 6.81 inches.
The rankings also highlight Venezuela (6.66 inches), Lebanon (6.62 inches), and Colombia (6.59 inches) as part of the top 10.
The US limped behind at number 68, with an average length at erection of 5.57 in. Many of America’s peers ranked higher: Australia with an average of 6.18 in, France with 5.71 in, and the UK with 5.63 in.
Canada ranked lower than the US, though, with an average of 5.48 in.
At the other end of the spectrum, Southeast Asian countries dominate the lowest rankings, with Thailand reporting the smallest average length at 3.71 inches, followed by North Korea (3.78 inches) and Cambodia (3.88 inches).
The study notes that measurements were derived from self-reporting and clinical studies. While self-reported data raises the possibility of exaggeration, the clinical studies conducted by health professionals help ensure accuracy.
The report also explores additional metrics such as girth and overall penile volume, where European nations often dominate. Nonetheless, African countries, including Nigeria, feature prominently in the rankings for length.
The findings come amidst broader discussions about men’s perceptions of size and its psychological and social implications. Research suggests that men place far greater emphasis on penis size than women, with many men desiring larger sizes despite scientific studies indicating that size has little bearing on sexual satisfaction.
Interestingly, the average global penis size may have increased over the past few decades. A study conducted by American and Italian researchers noted a 24% increase in erect length over 29 years, potentially linked to earlier onset of puberty and prolonged exposure to growth hormones.
As the world continues to debate whether size truly matters, Nigeria’s top-five ranking has undoubtedly added a new dimension to the conversation.
