A Federal High Court, Abuja on Friday ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to produce before the court 12 detained associates of Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho on July 29.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu gave the order after the applicants’ counsel Pelumi Olajengbesi moved the ex-parte motion dated July 7 and filed on July 8.
Egwuatu also ordered the secret police to show course why the applicants should not be granted bail.
The judge also granted the plea of the applicants, through the affidavit of urgency filed, on why the matter should be heard expeditiously irrespective of the imminent court vacation.
The applicants were arrested and detained by the DSS on July 1 after a raid on Sunday Igboho’s residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
The DSS had said it killed two of the activist’s associates during a gun duel. It later declared Sunday Igboho wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms, an allegation he denied.
Sunday Igboho and his wife Ropo, meanwhile, were arrested on Monday night by Interpol in Cotonou, Benin Republic just before they were to board a flight to Germany.
