Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho on Wednesday shared his first post to Instagram since his release from detention in Benin Republic.
The three-minute-26-second video was captioned “Thank you, everyone.”
Despite his release, Sunday Igboho is not free to leave Benin Republic yet, his close aides had said.
The umbrella body of Yoruba self-determination groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, had announced Sunday Igboho’s release on Monday.
“The Activist was released on Monday to a Yoruba Leader and Leader of the Umbrella body of Yoruba Self-determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Banji Akintoye and a French Language Expert/ Deputy Alana of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Wale Adeniran,” a statement by the group said.

The activist, who became popular for speaking in his people’s defence against Fulani herders accused of crimes, had fled Nigeria after a deadly raid on his Ibadan residence by the operatives of the Department of State Services on July 1, 2021.
