Senator Shehu Sani has called on the authorities to focus on rescuing abducted students in the north instead of attempting to arrest activist Sunday Adeyemo alias Sunday Igboho.
The activist who has been at the forefront of the fight against killer herdsmen in the south-west region was accosted by security forces on Ibadan/Lagos Expressway on Friday on his way to see Afenifere leader Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos.
Sunday Igboho’s supporters foiled the arrest.
In a tweet, Sani urged the authorities to go after bandits abducting students in the north instead.
“In the face of a greater danger in Kagara and Jangebe, Sunday shouldn’t be the focus now,” he said.
Sani’s statement comes in the wake of the abduction of 317 schoolgirls of Government Girls Science Secondary School in Jangebe area of Zamfara State on Friday morning.
Dozens of students and teachers abducted about a week ago from a school in Kagara, Niger State are yet to be released.
