Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Thursday appeared before the Court D’Apeal of Cotonou, Benin Republic.
The activist made appearance at the court with his German wife Ropo.
The court will decide if Sunday Igboho should be extradited back to Nigeria.
Following the activist and his wife’s arrival, the court entered into private session, with security officials asking journalists and other supporters of the Yoruba activist who were present to leave, BBC reports.
Sunday Igboho and his wife were arrested on Monday night at an airport in Cotonou. They were getting set to board a flight to Germany before the arrest.
Some reports say the activist tried to travel on a “fake” Benin Republic passport. But there has been no confirmation from Beninese authorities.
Sunday Igboho is wanted in Nigeria for allegedly stockpiling arms, an allegation he has since denied.
