The Managing Director of the Libyan football team, Adel Al-Khumisi, revealed that the Libyan team has chosen to play the fourth round of the African Cup qualifiers against Nigeria in Algeria.
According to Al-Khumisi, the current unrest won’t allow for such match to be staged at home.
He clarified in a press statement that the team’s program for the coming period will not include any friendly match because of the engagement of the professional players with their clubs, noting that the team will be together days before the third round of qualifiers, which is scheduled to be on October 10.
The Super Eagles will host the Mediterranean Knights first before travelling to North Africa.
After accusing the Eagles of black magic, Libya coach Adel Amrouche has tendered an apology.
“I apologise to the Nigeria football community for using the words JUJU in the press conference in SA,” he wrote on Twitter.
“I used the word in jest. I respect Nigerians and their RICH football tradition. I’m a man who likes joking, but I realise I used the word out of context. Please accept my apologies.”
Libya are currently top of Group E after two games with four points, while Nigeria one behind.
