The Super Eagles of Nigeria again dropped in the latest FIFA ranking released Thursday as they now occupy the 51st position in the world and seventh in Africa.
Last month’s ranking saw the Gernot Rohr-led side drop to 50th place and it didn’t get any better in December.
The two-time African champions dismantled Argentina 4-2 in the month under review.
But that appeared not to have counted much in the latest ranking released by the football governing body on Thursday.
Nigeria, the first from the continent to book a place in Russia is now the sixth lowest ranked team going to the Mundial.
World champions Germany, meanwhile, retained the top spot globally.
The other four places were also unchanged namely, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium.
So also, were the best five African sides unchanged with only Ghana swapping places with Nigeria.
