Aftermath of the Super Eagles FIFA World Cup qualifying draw, the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) has revealed that a new coach will be appointed in two weeks time.
The West African nation have been without a substantive head coach since Sunday Oliseh threw in the towel in February – with Samson Siasia and Salisu Yusuf both having separate interim stints.
Nigeria were handed a tricky draw in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday after they were paired with Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia in Group B.
In a move to avoid a repeat of the crisis that led to the three-time African champions missing out on a successive Africa Cup of Nations, the Glass House will appoint a substantive manager in less than 14 days.
“The target of the technical committee and the NFF is two weeks so we can get down to preparations,” Shehu Dikko, second vice-president of the NFF said on Saturday.
“It is better now that we know the draws and the countries we will play, so we can decide the kind of coach we need to get the right results.”
It is still unclear whether the NFF will appoint a foreign manager or stick with Yusuf who guided the country to two international friendly victories against Mali and Luxembourg in May.
The Eagles will begin their campaign with an away trip to Lusaka, to face Zambia, on October 3.
