Super Eagles goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, suffered yet another injury setback on Friday as Wolverhampton Wanderers defeated Queens Park Rangers (QPR) 2-1 in the English Championship.
The 30-year-old who missed Nigeria’s 3-1 win over Algeria in a World Cup qualifier last month, started for the first time since he took a knock against Blackburn in October.
But it was yet another frustrating outing for the former Leicester City man who was unable to complete the encounter due to an Achilles to add to his previous hip and oblique injuries.
Ikeme was replaced by Andy Lonergan in the 83rd minute with Wolves two goals up and on track for their first Championship victory since September.
It was his replacement however that gifted QPR a consolation goal with the Nigerian’s footwork and handling effective throughout the encounter.
Ikeme’s latest injury setback could rule him out till the new year.
The shot-stopper has featured 16 times this season for Wolves with four clean sheets.
