Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has become the centre of attention for many Nigerians especially female fans.
Okoye, who is making his debut appearance in a major tournament, was rested for Nigeria’s AFCON 2021 game against Guinea-Bissau on Wednesday at the Stade Roumdé Adjia in Garoua, Cameroon.
It is believed that his good looks and physique may have earned him love from Nigerians especially the female folk.
The 22-year-old, who was born in Düsseldorf, Germany to a Nigerian father and a German mother, caused a stir on Twitter on January 12 when he posted a photo of himself with the caption “Onto the next one.”
Nigeria had just defeated Egypt 1-0 in their opening game when he posted the photo.
The post went viral with more than 70,000 likes and thousands of retweets and comments.

Okoye got his first call-up to play for the Super Eagles when former coach Gernot Rohr invited him to the Nigerian national team setup and handed him his debut for a high profile friendly game against five-time world champions Brazil in October 2019. Nigeria drew 1-1 against the Selecao in that game.
Okoye is currently on loan at Sparta Rotterdam until the end of the 2021/22 campaign when he will return to Watford where he signed a deal on January 1, 2022.
