Nigeria’s Super Eagles are one of the biggest movers in the latest FIFA Rankings released on Thursday.
The West Africans climbed 10 spots to 50th in the world and 7th in Africa tied with Burkina Faso who surged an unbelievable 17 places.
Nigeria’s rise was due to their impressive 3-1 victory over Algeria in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier – their second successive win of the series.
That resounding victory over the Desert Foxes ensured the North Africans lost three places – dropping to fifth on the continent.
Just like Algeria, Ghana who slipped to Egypt lost eight places to become ninth in Africa while their conqueror climbed to fourth.
Senegal remained the top team on the continent followed by Cote d’Ivoire and Tunisia.
Globally, Argentina retained top spot while Brazil displaced Germany to second position with Chile and Belgium completing the top five.
