Nigeria’s Super Eagles showed character and steel in their 2-1 defeat to England on Saturday.
In the presence of a fully-packed Wembley audience, the African side recovered from a sloppy start to almost snatch a share of the spoils.
Gareth Southgate’s side controlled the first half with Gary Cahill giving them an early lead with a powerful header.
The Super Eagles seemed utterly clueless without purpose, routinely forfeiting possession to their hosts.
Harry Kane doubled their advantage with a drilled shot near half-time, as the visitors struggled to cope with England’s clever movement.
Nigeria, however, improved after the break with Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi scoring after just two minutes.
Gernot Rohr’s men did come close on numerous other occasions but the Three Lions held on for a slim victory.
Nigeria will now depart for Austria where they will face the Czech Republic on Wednesday.
