Nigeria’s women’s national U-20 side moved closer towards qualifying for next year’s World Cup in France thanks to an outstanding 6-2 aggregate win over Morocco.
The Super Falconets held to a 1-1 draw a fortnight ago in Rabat, produced a masterclass to beat the North Africans 5-1 on Saturday in Benin City.
With the game suffering a slight delay through to heavy downpour, the Nigerian ladies weren’t deterred as they rain down goals ruthlessly.
It took just five minutes for the Falconets to begin the onslaught through Rasheedat Ajibade.
Ten minutes after, they were two goals up thanks to a beautiful solo finish from Gift Monday.
Just when everyone thought the game was beyond the visitors, they pegged back after a horrendous howler from goalkeeper Onyinyechukwu Okeke who missed judged Fatima Tagnaout’s free-kick.
Then after, it was all about the hosts who notched three more goals in the second half.
Reuben Charity scored twice, with Ajibade notching a brace of her own as well.
Nigeria, who dismantled Tanzania 9-0 in the preliminary stage, will now face South Africa over both legs for a place in France.
