Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre
has been nominated for the English Women’s Super League Player of the Month for February.
The British-Nigerian, who made her debut for the Super Falcons in last weekend’s Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Lady Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, made two appearances for Leicester City this month with one goal to her name.
Her performance against West Ham saw the side keep a clean sheet, while her early goal helped take Lydia Bedford’s side above Everton in the league table. Plumptre was also impressive against Birmingham as Leicester ran out 2-1 winners.
Chelsea, Leicester and Tottenham lead the nominations for the Women’s Super League monthly award shortlists.
Others in the shortlist are Jess Carter – Chelsea, Ann-Katrin Berger – Chelsea, Jemma Purfield – Leicester, Alisha Lehmann – Aston Villa, and Ashleigh Neville – Tottenham.
