Super Falcons midfielders Rita Chikwelu and Halimatu Ayinde have been rewarded for their impressive showing at the just concluded Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) with fresh contracts at their clubs.
Skipper, Chikwelu ended speculation about her future after penning a new deal with Swedish side, Kristianstads DFF.
The agreement between club and player will see the attacking midfielder remain at Kristianstads DFF until the end of the 2019 season.
Chikwelu had stops at FC United and Umeå IK, where she spent six years, before joining Kristianstads DFF in 2017.
Ayinde, meanwhile, penned a one-season deal with Eskilstuna United DFF in Sweden.
The central midfielder was on the books of Asarum last season and previously played for American club Western New York Flash and Belarusian team FC Minsk.
The good fortune appears to have rubbed off on certain fringe players such as veteran midfielder Ogonna Chukwudi.
Chukwudi, was sensationally dropped from the 2018 AWCON roster by manager Thomas Dennerby.
Still, the 30-year-old won over a new deal with Djurgården Fotboll, also in Sweden.
