A 24-year-old man, Isyaku Rabiu, has blamed an evil spirit after he was arrested by the police in Niger State for allegedly raping an underage girl.
Mr Rabiu was arrested by a team of policemen attached to Nasko Division after a tip-off.
He was said to have blamed an evil spirit for defiling the seven-year-old girl in Auna, Magama local government area.
“I cannot explain why I derive joy in doing what I did; at times, it looks like it happen in a dream, but may Allah forgive men.
“It was an evil spirit that told me to drag my victim to the primary school to commit the act on that fateful day,” Rabiu told Punchng.com.
He was alleged to have dragged the minor, who was sent on an errand, into a school in the area, Nasko Central Primary School, where he defiled her.
The victim’s mother, Zainab Mohammed, reported the case at the police station after observing her daughter’s strange behaviour on Tuesday, Northern City News gathered.
The little girl, on interrogation, narrated how the incident occurred to her mother.
Niger police spokesperson, Muhammad Abubakar, has confirmed the incident. He added that the suspect had been charged to court.
