Police in Oyo say they have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a pregnant woman, Azeezat Somuyiwa.
Shomuyiwa, said to be seven months pregnant, was a postgraduate student of the Department of Social Work in the Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan (UI).
She was reportedly hit with a heavy stone on the head on June 5 at her residence in Aba Ijefun, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo.
Oyo police spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said on Saturday: “A suspect has been arrested with respect to Somuyiwa’s murder. We are currently on the investigation of Barakat Bello’s death. We are intensifying efforts to arrest other suspects linked with both incidents.”
He said the suspect was providing useful information to assist the police in their investigation.
