The old rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana has taken a different twist after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Few hours before the Eagles sealed their place in Russia with a 1-0 victory over Zambia, the Black Stars, in dire need of a win, managed a scoreless stalemate in Uganda.
That moment, Ghana’s chances became much slimmer, with their destiny already out of their hands.
A victory for the Pharaohs of Egypt against Congo will annihilate their world cup aspirations.
Well, that eventually happened in Cairo as Mohammed Sallah’s late penalty earned the North Africans a 2-1 victory.
Egypt thus ended their 28-year absence from the global showpiece while Ghana miss out for the first time in half that time.
Nigerians were at their bantering best afterwards, aiming countless jibes at their neighbours.
Someone even suggested that Ghana take Isaac Success, the Nigerian footballer arrested in Britain after a drunken row with four prostitutes.
