The Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has lifted the ban on actress Nkechi Blessing.
A video circulated on social media on Sunday shows Nkechi Blessing kneeling and apologising to the TAMPAN leadership headed by Bolaji Amusan popularly known as Mr. Latin at the Celebrities Entertainment Awards in Canada.
In her apology, she expressed regret over past actions and asked the association to lift her ban.
The video also captured a reconciliatory moment, with Mr. Latin and Odunlade Adekola hugging Nkechi, symbolically ending the ban.
Following this, Mr. Latin took to Instagram to commend Nkechi’s courage for her public apology and warmly welcomed her back into TAMPAN.
“I commend and admire your courage.. welcome on board!!!” he wrote.
The ban dates back to 2021 when Nkechi and fellow actress Iyabo Ojo publicly condemned actor Baba Ijesha who was accused of sexually assaulting the foster daughter of comedienne Princess.
Their stance created friction within TAMPAN as some members, including Yomi Fabiyi and Lege Maimi, opposed their criticism of Baba Ijesha.
As a result of this, actor Jide Kosoko banned directors within the association from working with Nkechi and Iyabo.
In response, Nkechi criticised TAMPAN, calling it “lawless” and claiming the association was attempting to stifle individuals who could support future generations.
