Gov. Agbu Kefas of Taraba on Sunday said that his administration intended to build a new general hospital in Wukari and name it after Chief David Kente.
Kefas made the declaration at the thanksgiving Service marking the 60th birthday of Kente at the Christian Reform Church of Nigeria (CRCN) in Wukari, Taraba.
The governor, therefore, requested Kente, a retired Director of Finance at the National Assembly, to either offer at a subsidised rate or donate his parcel of land to the government, saying it was suitable for the project.
He described the celebrant as a philanthropist who had touched many lives positively in the state and beyond.
Kefas encouraged Kente to mentor the upcoming ones to grow to be impactful to society.
He advised Kente to continue to be impactful to society, adding that good people preserved good inheritances for their children.
His Majesty Chief Sopiya Ahmadu, Chief of Takum, thanked Kente for his support to humanity.
Ahmadu wished him more years and prosperity in all his social endeavors.
Earlier, Chief Kente appreciated God for sustaining and giving him the grace to clock 60 years of age.
He thanked the governor and all other dignitaries, who converged to honour him.
While praying to God to open more ways for him, Kente expressed his determination to continue to serve humanity.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kente earlier facilitated the freedom of 15 prisoners who were serving their jail terms in Wukari Correctional Center.
He also gave cash donations to cover transportation fares to the freed prisoners.
