Singers and rumoured lovers, Simi and Adekunle Gold, were left with egg on their faces after they separately tweeted their support for actress, Dorcas Fapson, who accused a Taxify driver of attempting to rape her.
The actress had on Thursday claimed the driver identified as Henry Nnaemeka attempted to abduct and rape her in the early hours of the day.
According to her, what started as an argument over payment for the ride ended in the driver physically assaulting her with intent to holding her hostage.
The driver denies the claim, saying the actress acted in a manner that put him at risk.
Typically, some Nigerians were quick to blame the actress, with many slut shaming her because of the way she dresses.
Rising to her defence, Adekunle Gold wrote on Twitter: “When someone narrates their ordeal these days, they get bashed and judged and you wonder why people don’t speak up when they are in trouble? I am reading comments on a blog; people abusing Dorcas for making the story up, other animals saying she’s proly dressed indecently. SMH. What happened to us really?”
His reference to Dorcas’ critic as animals didn’t go down well with many people and he soon found the heat turned on him.
The 30-year-old was forced to delete the “animal” tweet but left the following:
You people, I didnt say nothing wrong or judge anyone. What I said was; people should be able to narrate their ordeal without getting bashed. Be easy and have an amazing day. Bless

I didn’t even talk ill about the guy, but some people just want to be angry as usual. God will give your minds rest.

Simi later found herself in a similar storm after she tweeted that trolling people in trouble will drive them to keep their issues to themselves.
I’m not asking anyone not to believe what they want – but nobody was there but the 2 of them. If someone is in trouble, this will only drive them to keep it to themselves. Don’t drag anybody for filth, cos u were not there. It is wrong. Even if don’t want to hear it, it is wrong!

Like her singing partner, she too was attacked for her trouble, prompting her to apologise.
Didn’t ask you to bring anybody down. Just drop ur opinion with respect and objectively. The kind of things I’ve seen today 🤦🏾♀️ https://t.co/LXiHokkgjw

I’m sorry. I mean well, but I said it wrong in the heat of my emotions. 😞 I’m gonna go out and drink something.

Taxify had on Thursday reported the alleged attempted abduction and rape to the police whom it said were investigating the matter.
