The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) has launched an app for its cable channel Emmanuel TV on Android.
This was announced by the church on Facebook on Sunday, January 28 less than two weeks after the cable channel stopped airing on Multichoice’s platforms DStv and GOtv.
The church said, “The New Emmanuel TV Android App is now available to be downloaded from the Emmanuel.TV website (https://emmanuel.tv/tv-guide/) for any Android Smartphone.
“For Samsung Galaxy Phone users, we advise you to download the New Emmanuel TV Android App in the Samsung Galaxy Store (https://galaxy.store/etv).”
It added in the post, “You can also download the New Emmanuel TV Android App from the Amazon Appstore App for Android.”
This comes as a bold step from SCOAN following the removal of its cable channel, started in 2006, from all pay-TV platforms.

SCOAN celebrates Emmanuel TV at 17
The Ikotun Egbe-based church first announced the exit of Emmanuel TV on December 26, 2023, on social media.
“Accessing Emmanuel TV is about to become more versatile, more convenient, and more reliable! Emmanuel TV will no longer air on DStv and GOtv (DTH & DTT) from the 17th of January 2024 at 10:59pm GMT +1, and subsequently on all other pay cable tv platforms,” its post read.
The SCOAN did not give reasons for its action.
However, QEDNG recently reported that Multichoice informed Emmanuel TV in August 2023 that the channel would be removed from its platforms if the viewership figures did not improve.
A senior member of SCOAN, who did not want to be identified, was quoted as telling TheCable that MultiChoice Nigeria CEO John Ugbe wrote to the church, saying that Emmanuel TV was performing poorly.
Viewership did not improve even after the 90-day improvement target set. The channel was discontinued effective January 17, 2024.
