Teen saxophonist Temilayo Abodunrin on Sunday met with former presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi at the domestic wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Ms Abodunrin, who was in Abuja for a performance at a church, said Mr Obi recognised her and urged her to pray for Nigeria’s leaders.
“Earlier this morning on my flight to Abuja, boarded the same flight with HE @peterobigregory,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Little did I know he recognized me from the last time I performed in his presence at an event in Abuja about a year ago.”
Abodunrin said she “took a moment to appreciate his humility and really prayed for him and all the leaders.”
The teenage star said she hoped for a country “where our leaders freely travel without loads of security guards, military personnel, police forces and war gadget as if we are at war.”
She added that she hoped for a country where leaders would love the people, focus on education, healthcare and social amenities, “where justice and equality prevail whether you are rich or poor, where every citizen of this country can confidently afford 3 square meal and a place to call home.”
Known for her popular saxophone covers of ‘Duduke’ and ‘Jowo,’ Abodunrin began playing the instrument at just six years old.
She has since performed at numerous events, ranging from weddings and birthdays to church services and concerts.
