An American teenager has been charged with conspiring to murder her ‘best friend’ after a man she met online offered her $9 million to commit the crime.
18-year-old Denali Brehmer, investigators say, was recruited to kill her friend by a 21-year-old man, Darin Schilmiller.
Mr Schilmiller had assumed a fake identity and posed as a millionaire named ‘Tyler’ when he met Brehmer.
The court heard that they discussed a plan to rape and murder someone in Alaska, US.
Schilmiller allegedly promised Brehmer $9 million or more to send him videos or photographs of the attack.
Court documents show that on June 2 Brehmer recruited four other teens to kill Cynthia Hoffman who considered Brehmer to be her best friend.
Body of 19-year-old Hoffman was discovered on June 4. She was shot in the back of the head by her assailants and her body dumped in the water.
Brehmer was said to have sent Schilmiller “Snapchat photographs and videos of Hoffman tied up and of the body afterward.”
The pair were indicted on Tuesday on federal child pornography and child exploitation charges.
Last Friday, a grand jury indicted all six defendants for first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree, two counts of second-degree murder and other charges.
