Comedian Teju Babyface has revealed that his popular Teju Babyface Show raked in advertising after he relocated to the United States.
“The Teju Babyface Show really did well,” the 45-year-old told QEDNG publisher Olumide Iyanda in a recent interview.
“In fact, it did better after I left, which was one of the things that messed up my mind. It was after I left that all those shows and episodes that were programmed to go on air just took off with advertising.”
The actor said the earnings from his show after his relocation made him marvel and begin to ask himself questions.
“Was this an action of the gods who knew I was now in America and would need more naira to convert to dollars. Was this a largesse of the gods who now increased our earnings on the Teju Babyface Show so that that could happen? Or should I never have left? Did I make a mistake? Should I have stayed and this increase in earnings would have enabled me to do more in Nigeria with the Teju Babyface Show? So this resistance in your mind comes to mess with you big time at this point,” he said.
Teju Babyface added that his family had to tighten their belts and cut down on frivolities, adding that he also earned money from his two books which he republished as one volume.
He said he also tried to go into thought leadership, to become an inspirational speaker but it didn’t work the way he expected.
