Comedian Teju Babyface has said he would not have started the Teju Babyface Show on television if his comedy career had hit the heights he had in mind.
The comic star stated this in a recent interview with QEDNG publisher Olumide Iyanda.
Teju Babyface said there were people who resisted his career growth, noting that he would not mention names. He also said he had nothing against them, labelling them the resistance which nature brings to a person to spur such person on.
“I have had this resistance that has used people as tools to try to frustrate me at several points during my career but I understood that it was resistance, even though I might not have been able to put it in these words in those days so I don’t hold it against people,” he said.
“It’s just that these things happen to keep pushing us on. If my acting career had worked out I never would have been a comedian. If my comedy career had gone to the height that I really wanted I would never have started the Teju Babyface Show. If my comedy career had done the things I had in mind that I wanted it to do, you would never have seen the Teju Babyface Show.”
The funnyman further said he should be given accolade for becoming at some point “one of the highest paid MCs in Nigeria” and “one of the top comedians” in the country.
According to him, there was a time when for about a decade he was shut out of comedy shows and could not explain why.
