Actress Temi Otedola has received the award for Best International Film from the National Film Awards in the United Kingdom for filmmaker Kunle Afolayan’s Netflix movie Citation, her first movie role.
The award ceremony which was held recently in the United Kingdom was attended by Temi and her co-star Haitian actor Jimmy Jean-Louise who received the award with the actress on behalf of the crew.
While accepting the award, the duo thanked the organisers of the award for the recognition.
Kunle also shared a photo of the award on an Instagram post on Wednesday with the caption: “Winner “CITATION” Proudly Africa, Proudly Nigeria.”
Celebrities like Sola Sobowale, Betty Irabor, Kunle Remi, Ken Erics, Broda Shaggi and Ikorodu Bois congratulated Kunle in the comment section of the post.
Citation also features actress Joke Silva, Ini Edo, experienced broadcaster-turned-actor, Sadiq Daba, and actor Gabriel Afolayan among others.
Written by Golden Effects Pictures’ long-standing screenwriter, Tunde Babalola, Citation tells the story of Moremi Oluwa, a fun-loving 21-year-old student on campus in Nigeria. Incensed at being ill-treated by a trendy university don, Lucien N’Dyare, she drags him before the University Senate. The ensuing intrigues define Moremi’s word against that of the respected academic, in a male-dominated bastion.
In February 2022 Temi announced her second movie role The Man for the Job directed by Niyi Akinmolayan.
“I’m shooting my 2nd feature film. Are you ready for The Man For The Job. Directed by Niyi Akinmolayan,” she wrote on Twitter.
