Ijebu princess Temitope Adesegun is now the sixth wife of the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
The wedding tagged “elegant meets royal” was held on Monday, October 24 at Magodo, Shangisha area of Lagos.
Princess Temitope’s wedding to the Ooni is coming four days after the monarch’s marriage to his fifth wife, the founder of African Fashion Week, Ronke Ademiluyi, who is the great-granddaughter of the 48th Ooni of Ife, late Oba Ajagun Ademiluyi.
Like his previous weddings, the Ooni was not in attendance but members of the palace stormed the venue to represent the king. The Ooni’s sisters were also in attendance.
Temitope will now join the long list of wives of the Ooni which includes Mariam nee Anako, Elizabeth nee Akinmuda, Tobi nee Phillips, Ashley nee Adegoke and Ronke nee Ademiluyi.
Below are five things to know about the new wife:
1. Temitope is a princess from the Adesegun Ibipe Royal Dynasty of Ago-Iwoye in Ijebu North Local Government Area, Ogun State.
2. She has a diploma in linguistics, another diploma in data processing and a bachelor of science degree in business administration all from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
3. She is an alumnus of several universities, including the University of Oxford, United Kingdom; INSEAD Business School, Fontainebleau, France; University of Cambridge, Judge Business School, United Kingdom; and Harvard Kennedy School of Government in the United States.
4. She was the host of the TV show ‘Health-Wise,’ a public health advocacy programme of the Lagos State Ministry of Health under Governor Babatunde Fashola. The programme aired for four years.
5. Temitope recently teamed up with the Ooni to set up the Hopes Alive Initiative, which provides amenities to poor communities.
