Actress and radio presenter Omotunde Adebowale, widely known as Lolo 1, has raised concerns about a TikTok trend in which young women lift their blouses to expose their breasts.
Lolo has called for more parental involvement in managing children’s online activities to prevent such ‘disturbing’ behavior.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Lolo shared her shock after watching a video where a young boy, filmed in what she described as a “dingy place,” urged girls to expose themselves on camera.
To her dismay, several girls followed the request.
“I am not happy today at all. I saw a video on TikTok where a young boy in a dingy place asked girls to flash their breasts on TikTok, and I saw different girls doing it.
“Not one, not two, not three girls flashing their naked breasts on TikTok and people are watching. It made me wonder what is happening and I was told it’s a challenge.”
The 47-year-old actress expressed disbelief over the trend, questioning how such explicit content could be shared and viewed so openly. “I was left wondering what is happening, and I was told it’s a challenge,” Lolo said.
Lolo’s concerns went beyond just the viral act itself. She connected the troubling trend to a larger issue of gender-based violence, emphasizing the need for stronger parental oversight.
“What do we need to happen? We’re already seeing girls getting raped and killed everyday, assaulted and abused and yet our young children aren’t having sense enough to stay modest.
“You have the audacity to flash your breasts to thousands of people on tiktok, even if they were paying you..we need to stop this! Where are our parents and caregivers? We thought we had seen everything with gen Z! But what this gen Alpha would do! As a mother, I am unhappy because I saw it with my two eyes ! This has to stop”
She captioned the post, “This made me very sad and I can’t just sit down and do nothing.
I will continue to advocate for some kind of control of social all media because the things seen are just beyond me!”
Lolo gained widespread fame for her role as Adaku in the popular Nigerian sitcom Jenifa’s Diary, she also appeared in the spin-off Everybody Loves Jenifa(2024).
In addition to her acting career, Lolo 1 is known for her work as a radio host on Wazobia FM.
