Movie director, Kemi Adetiba, has revealed that she had tears in her eyes while watching the 2016 movie, The Wedding Party, which she directed.
The 40-year-old made this known on Instagram on Sunday.
She wrote, “Wedding Party 1 came up in the Netflix strip this morning so decided to watch it…There’s still something so magical about this film and it brought tears to my eyes and will always hold a special place in my heart…”
The Wedding Party, which stars Adesua Etomi, Banky W, Ireti Doyle, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Sola Sobowale among others, is the first Nigerian movie to cross the billion naira threshold, grossing over 3.5 billion naira at the box office.
It is regarded as Nigeria’s first international box office hit.
Its sequel, The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai, was released in 2017, is the highest-grossing Nigerian movie of all time.
