Birth and early life: Pastor Tunde Bakare was born a Muslim on November 11, 1954, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He was raised by a single mother and often speaks about his humble beginnings. He converted to Christianity in 1974.

Education and legal career: Bakare studied law at the University of Lagos and later attended the Nigerian Law School. He practised law for years, eventually becoming a prominent lawyer before dedicating his life to ministry.

Marriage: He married Olayide on November 24, 1984. They have five children.

Founding The Latter Rain Assembly: In 1989, Bakare founded The Latter Rain Assembly (now known as Global Citadel Community Church) where he served as the senior pastor, focusing on teachings around societal transformation and governance.

Political aspirations: A strong advocate for political reform, Bakare entered Nigeria’s political landscape, becoming known for his outspoken stance on issues of governance. He ran as vice presidential candidate alongside Muhammadu Buhari on the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) ticket in 2011.
