Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, has accepted that his team will in all likelihood be absent from next season’s Champions League.
Only a miracle will see them finish in the Premier League’s top four while something similar will be needed for them to win the trophy in the current campaign.
While that will be something of a disaster – both in financial and football terms – for the Stamford Bridge club, Abramovich is ready to see it as an opportunity to rebuild.
According to Daily Mail, Chelsea will continue to balance incomings with outgoings despite their disastrous implosion this season.
And with a big revamp required, it means one of the club’s biggest stars is likely to be offloaded at the end of the season.
Here are three Chelsea biggest properties who could leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.
- Eden Hazard
Eden Hazard is probably the most valuable player in the squad at the moment and the Blues would hope to sell the Belgian for around the £80m mark.
Hazard hasn’t had the best of season thus far but the 2014/15 PFA player of the Year still has lots of suitors around Europe.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have long courted the winger, but it appears the man himself would only be interested in a move to Spain.
The 25-year-old has already experienced Ligue 1 football with Lille and doesn’t see a return at this point in his career as a wise move, even if it is to a team almost guaranteed to win the domestic league every season.
- Oscar
Oscar is also likely to be put on the market next summer.
The Brazilian has already reportedly attracted a sizable offer from China, but it is unclear whether he would be open to such a move.
The incredible money on offer in the economic powerhouse, however, could be enough to tempt him.
Oscar is an important player, with his ability to play anywhere behind the striker his major asset. But the Blues could be ready to let their man go if the price is right.
- Thibaut Courtois
Chelsea could also be swayed into parting with Thibaut Courtois if a big bid comes in.
The young goalkeeper is considered one of the best in the world and as a result would generate significant sums of money in the transfer market.
However, having sold Petr Cech last summer, it is not a move that would go down well with the fans.
But anything is possible at Chelsea, especially with fans favourites like Juan Mata and David Luiz shown the exit door in recent time.
