Three siblings were on Thursday burnt beyond recognition in their mother’s shop in Ugwuagba-Obosi, Idemili North local government area of Anambra State.
It was gathered that their mother had kept the three siblings in her shop and went somewhere when the incident happened.
Anambra police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the story, gave the ages of the children as five, four and three, respectively.
“Two short containers used as a shop and a residence along the High Tension School Road, Ugwuagba-Obosi, in the Idemili North Local Government of Anambra State, were gutted by fire.
“The owner of affected containers, one Blessing Nwafor, who was not around at the time of the incident, reportedly left three of her children namely Chimierie Nwafor, five years; Onyedika Nwafor, four years; and Esther Nwafor, three years, inside the shop and they were all burnt beyond recognition.
“A police patrol team attached to the Awada Division led by the DPO, CSP Tony Adeyi, rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area and removed the charred remains of the victims to the Bex Hospital’s mortuary for autopsy after they were certified dead by a medical doctor,” Mr Mohammed said.
