AFC Ajax and Vitesse players united on Sunday to show solidarity with former Super Eagles winger Tijani Babangida following the tragic accident which led to the death of his younger brother Ibrahim Babangida and infant son Fadil.
Babangida and his family were on their way to Abuja last week when they had an accident in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Babangida’s wife is battling for her life after undergoing facial surgery.
At the GelreDome stadium for the final Eredivisie matchday of the season, Ajax and Vitesse players and fans sent a message of support to Babangida who played for both clubs during his nine-year stint in The Netherlands.
The players held a banner which read “heel veel sterkte” meaning “all the strength you need”.
Babangida, 50, also received a video message from his former coach at Ajax Loius Van Gaal.
