Tinubu, Alao-Akala meet ahead of Oyo governorship election

National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has met with the governorship candidate for Action Democratic Party (ADC) in Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Mr Alao-Akala confirmed to PUNCH correspondent on Wednesday that he met with Tinubu on a possible partnership.

Sources close to both politicians say the meeting was necessitated by the victory of the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in Oyo.

Incumbent governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, lost his bid for Oyo-South senatorial seat to a candidate of the PDP, Kola Balogun.

Fears of a possible defeat for the APC governorship candidate in the state, Adebayo Adelabu, now grips the governing party.

Alao-Akala, a former governor of Oyo State, asked to be given 24 hours to make a formal statement.

“It is true. Both of us have been meeting and we will continue to meet. I will call you in 24 hours to let you know the state of things,” he was quoted as saying.
