The Chicago State University has confirmed that a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu attended the university.
Tinubu’s academic qualification has been a source of controversy for many years. A recent viral article alleged that all the schools Tinubu claimed to have attended had disowned him.
“Mr Tinubu did attend our university, however, if further information is needed, go to studentclearinghouse.org website to make a formal request,” Beverly Poindexter, who is in charge of official transcript requests, enrolment and degree verification at the registrar’s office told PUNCH in an email.
The varsity had earlier confirmed Tinubu was awarded a bachelor of science degree in business and administration with honours on June 22, 1979. The presidential hopeful majored in accounting.
Human rights lawyer Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) had also questioned Tinubu’s credentials and sued the Nigeria Police Force for failing to investigate him. The Supreme Court, however, ruled the police could not be compelled to probe Tinubu for certificate forgery at the time.
Tinubu is in pole position to clinch the presidential ticket of his party. Others seeking the party’s presidential ticket include Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi, Senators Rochas Okorocha and Orji Kalu.
