Tinubu hosts Super Bowl champion Moro Ojomo at State House

President Bola Tinubu on Friday welcomed Nigerian-American NFL star Morotoluwa “Moro” Ojomo to the State House in Abuja following his Super Bowl triumph with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ojomo, who played a crucial role in the Eagles’ 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025, was accompanied by his father, Ololade Ojomo; mother, Abimbola Ojomo;and sister, Omodeleoluwa Ojomo.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, shared images and videos of Ojomo’s arrival in Abuja, writing, “Thrilled to welcome Morotoluwa Ojomo (Moro) of the Philadelphia Eagles, two-time winners of the American NFL Super Bowl, as he arrives in Abuja with his family—his father, Ololade Ojomo, mother, Abimbola Ojomo, and sister, Omodeleoluwa Ojomo.

“Moro is passionate about nurturing young sports talents in Nigeria and investing in education, creating opportunities for indigent students through scholarships. Exciting times ahead!”*

She also shared pictures from his visit to Tinubu, captioning them, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) welcomes Morotoluwa Ojomo of Philadelphia Eagles, two-time Super Bowl champion winner and his family to the Presidential Villa on Friday.

“During the visit, President Tinubu promised to confer upon him a national honor.”

Born in Lagos, Ojomo moved to the United States at age seven.

After an impressive college career at the University of Texas, he was selected by the Eagles in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

His rookie season ended in a historic Super Bowl victory, which he celebrated by displaying the Nigerian flag.

Ojomo’s visit comes days after he arrived in Lagos through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, as earlier reported by QEDNG.
