President Bola Tinubu has postponed the presentation of the N47.9 trillion 2025 budget to the National Assembly, originally scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, to Wednesday, December 18.
A Senate source confirmed the development to PUNCH on Monday, with an official statement on the rescheduling expected shortly.
Last Thursday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the initial date, stating, “The president has made his intention known to the National Assembly to present the 2025 budget to the joint Assembly of the National Assembly on the 17th of December, 2024.”
The presentation was set to take place in the House of Representatives chamber.
Akpabio earlier informed lawmakers that Tuesday’s plenary would begin at 10:30 a.m., allowing senators to convene in the red chamber before proceeding to the House of Representatives for the budget address.
Notably, in November, Tinubu submitted the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper for 2025–2027 to both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
