President-elect Bola Tinubu has expressed appreciation to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for hosting him at a state banquet on Wednesday evening.
Tinubu arrived Rivers State on Wednesday on a two-day visit to commission projects. The banquet was held after Tinubu launched a flyover in Obi Akpor Local Government Area.
The former Lagos State governor won the presidential election conducted in Rivers State back in February.
The president-elect shared photos of the banquet on social media on Thursday, describing Wike as an “outstanding achiever”.
“In what was a remarkable display of unity, I was joined yesterday evening by leaders of the country across party lines at the State Banquet hosted in my honor by the Rivers State government in Port Harcourt.
“I’m grateful to Governor Nyesom Wike, an outstanding achiever, and the people of the great State for the rare honor,” he said.
Tinubu further said “it was a personal joy” for him to see politicians across party lines gather to honour him.
He said his administration would be “committed to the progress of Nigerians wherever they live and one led by the progressive ideals of unity, equity, justice, and fairness.”
Among those who attended the banquet are the minister of sports, Sunday Dare; former governors of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose and Kayode Fayemi; APC chieftain, Bisi Akande; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde; Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi; among others.
Comedian Seyi Law entertained the guests with jokes. There were also dance performances at the banquet.
