Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu met with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on Monday in London.
The duo met in London, UK contrary to reports that the meeting happened in France, sources told PUNCH.
It could not be immediately confirmed if Benue State and Oyo State governors Samuel Ortom and Seyi Makinde respectively were part of it.
It was however gathered that some APC and Peoples Democratic Party governors also attended the crucial meeting.
Jubril Gawat, a social media aide of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also confirmed the meeting in a tweet.
He said, “Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress Asiwaju Bola Tinubu met with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike outside the country in preparation for the 2023 general elections.”
Wike has been parleying with APC leaders since he was overlooked by Atiku Abubakar for the vice-presidential slot of the PDP.
On July 8, three APC governors, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State visited Wike at his Rumueprikon country home in Port Harcourt, as part of moves to woo him.
Also present at the meeting was a former Ekiti governor and PDP member, Ayodele Fayose.
Moves by the PDP to reconcile all aggrieved parties have not yielded the desired results.
