Hakeem Muri-Okunola, a former personal assistant of ex-Lagos governor Bola Tinubu, has marked one year in office as 21st Head of Service (HoS) of the state.
Mr Muri-Okunola was appointed on December 29, 2018, and sworn in two days later by former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

Tweeting on Sunday, Muri-Okunola said he was grateful for the support he has enjoyed from the state’s workforce and the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He said: “One year ago, to the glory of God and to the service of our dear state Lagos, in line with traditional successions, I became the 21st Head Of Service of Lagos State. I am grateful for the massive support and cooperation I have received from the entire 130k plus workforce and the giant strides and successes we have achieved jointly to continue to remain the most vibrant and pivotal public service in Nigeria.
“The support of the Sanwoolu @jidesanwoolu administration has been very encouraging with the welfare and development of our prime assets, public servants as paramount on the agenda as the engine room and catalysts for government action, growth and service delivery. I thank you all for your massive support and look forward to recording more successes with you.”

In 2003, Muri-Okunola became Tinubu’s personal assistant; while in 2005, he became the Executive Secretary to the Governor on Land Use and Allocation Committee.
In 2011, when he was just 39 years old, Muri-Okunola became permanent secretary in the same land ministry, and was until his appointment as HoS, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.
He replaced Folasade Adesoye who retired on December 27, 2018.
