Mavin songstress, Tiwa Savage, has lost yet another award in a trend that began two weeks ago.
This time it is the Best African Act at the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards won by none other than Wizkid.
The award was announced at the pre-MOBO Awards show held in London on Thursday and presented to the 26-year-old ‘Ojuelegba’ singer by Nigeria’s DJ Cuppy.
Other categories announced were Best Gospel Act, Best Jazz Act, MOBO Unsung and Best RnB/Soul Act.
The categories that will be announced at the main event which is slated for Friday, November 4 will be the Best Male, Best Female, Best Song, Best Album, Best Video, Best Newcomer, Best Hip-hop act, Best Reggae, Best Grime and Best International acts category winners announced and celebrated.
Wizkid was favoured over artistes like Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi, Moelogo and Eugy to win the Best African MOBO.
Tiwa lost six categories – Artiste of the Year, Best Female West Africa, AFRIMMA Video of the Year, Best African Collaboration, Song of the Year, and Best Artiste in African Contemporary – at the Afrika Music Magazine Award (AFRIMMA) which took place on Saturday, October 15 in Dallas, Texas, USA.
She also lost the Best Female award to Yemi Alade at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday, October 22.
Wizkid, on the other hand, walked away with three coveted awards – Artiste of the Year, Best Male Act and Best Collaboration – at MAMA.
