World record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles Tobi Amusan has won the Nigerian women’s 100m title for the fourth time.
She powered through to the finish on Monday at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, Edo State, clocking a time of 12.78s (0.0) ahead of Adaobi Tabugbo who finished second in 13.33s.
This is her fourth national title at the Nigerian Olympic trials and her back to back 100m hurdles titles.
Amusan, born in Ijebu Ode, will be leading the Nigerian contingent to the Paris Olympics which will begin on July 26, 2024.
In March, Amusan claimed victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 13th African Games in Ghana with a time of 12.89 seconds.
Amusan made history as the first Nigerian to become a world champion and world record holder in athletics.
She secured the gold medal in the 100m hurdles at the 2022 World Championships, setting the world record of 12.12 seconds (+0.9m/s) in the semi-final.
She continued her outstanding performance with a time of 12.06 seconds (+2.5m/s) in the final.
