Media personality and actress Toke Makinwa has reflected on her unfulfilled Hollywood dreams while celebrating a major milestone in her Nollywood career.

Toke shared her journey in 2024, revealing that she has worked on five films this year, solidifying her presence in the Nigerian film industry.

She expressed gratitude for her growth and the diverse roles she’s been offered, writing, “5 movies with yours truly, the second half of the year and I’m fully in my Acting Bag. Thankful for growth, grateful for versatile roles too. I’m really doing this, guys.”

However, the road to success hasn’t been without sacrifices. Toke admitted that her dedication to her career has meant missing out on personal and social moments, but she remains focused on her goals.

“There has been a lot of sacrifice too. I’ve missed out on so much fun things happening, but there’ll always be time to turn up some more. Once I commit to something, I chase it with everything,” she explained.

Toke also shared valuable life lessons with her followers, particularly urging them to embrace life’s unpredictability and trust in divine timing.

She recounted her move to Los Angeles three years ago with aspirations of breaking into Hollywood. “I was so sure it was the next move, started taking classes too. God said not yet. But gave me room to grow back home.”

She encouraged others to let go of rigid expectations, saying, “Take yourself out of the ‘context’ of how you think your life will happen. It’s good to have a picture in your head of what you want or think you should be, but let God work it out. Let go, stay faithful, and show up expectant.”

Reflecting on her journey, Toke is now grateful for the opportunity to grow in Nigeria.

She acknowledged that, in hindsight, the Hollywood dream would have come too soon. “I look back now, and I’m thankful it didn’t happen because I wasn’t half as confident or ready for the job.

“Today, I’ve grown. I’m still learning, but I’m much more confident. The dream isn’t wrong; the timing must be right to protect you,” she concluded.
