Former handler of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Twitter account, Olufemi Adeyemi, told his family he was an aquarium dealer to conceal the nature of his job.
He disclosed this in response to a question by Qed.ng Founder, Olumide Iyanda.
The anti-graft agency kept the identity of the man behind its engaging tweets hidden despite numerous requests and subtle blackmail from social media users.
Adeyemi’s cover was, however, blown on Monday when the commission announced that he was leaving its service.
You are an excellent communicator; you are special. Good luck for the future and thank you for your service @FshawKingFisher, “The Handler”. pic.twitter.com/cm6hljAxCn

Responding to Iyanda’s question about what he told his family his job was, the Covenant University graduate answered “aquarium dealer”.
Aquarium dealer. Seriously. Corrected my spelling. See…not perfect. Lol https://t.co/SY97l6rufj

Adeyemi had disclosed in an earlier tweet that his sister didn’t know he was the “handler” until the EFCC announcement.
Haha. My sis just found out. She’s not talking to me atm. ? https://t.co/hM5jlbGMRm
