Chairman of Transcorp Group, Heirs Holding and United Bank for Africa (UBA) Tony Elumelu on Monday celebrated the pioneer chairperson of Transcorp Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke on her 70th birthday.
Mrs Okereke-Onyiuke is also a former director-general and chief executive of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
In an Instagram post, Mr Elumelu described her as a “corporate amazon”.
He wrote: “Celebrating a corporate Amazon. Happy 70th birthday to Dr. Ndi Okereke Onyiuke.
“Pioneer Chair of Nigeria’s foremost conglomerate, @transcorpnigeria, and ex DG of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Wishing you many happy returns🥂.”
Reputed as the first female stockbroker in Nigeria, Okereke-Onyiuke is also the first woman that ever hold the position of DG of NSE.
She obtained her MBA in Finance and Computer Science from City University of New York, US. Okereke-Onyiuke also earned a Doctor of Philosophy as well as Doctor of Administration in Finance and Securities Market from Graduate School of the same university.
