Chairman of UBA Plc Tony Elumelu has embarked on a tour of several cites in the United States: Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The ‘Africapitalist’ posted a timeline of his itinerary in the US on Instagram.
In Washington DC, he spoke at a fireside chat hosted by the United States Institute of Peace and The Heritage Foundation.
He noted on Instagram that he “forged partnerships and reinforced the message of youth empowerment and gender equality. Youth unemployment is a waste of talent and a betrayal of a generation. It feeds extremism, and insecurity.”
According to him, “I shared the same message with Senator Chris Coons, US Senator for Delaware and a great friend of Africa; Reta Jo Lewis, EXIMBank US President and Chair; Scott Nathan, CEO, Development Finance Corporation; Travis Adkins, President and CEO of the US African Development Bank (USADF) and Makhtar Diop, MD, IFC during our engagements.”
In New York, he met UBA staff and engaged with them.
The philanthropist also had brunch with the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) squad and was hosted by Nick Berggruen, founder and president of Berggruen Holdings, a longtime friend and investment partner, and also an advocate for young entrepreneurs.
