Veteran afro hip-hop artiste, Tony Tetuila, has announced the death of his mother, Mrs. Cecilia Awotoye.
The ‘Fefe Na Efe’ singer made the announcement in an Instagram post on Wednesday, revealing that she passed away on Tuesday.
“Maami, GOD took you to a better place yesterday, heaven gained a beautiful angel… Rest in peace in Jesus Name Amen. You will always be on my mind…there is no one like you maami. oh my GOD,” he wrote.
An indigene of Kwara State, Tony was born into an impoverished polygamous family.
Born Anthony Awotoye, Tony once described his mother as a superwoman because of how she took care of him when he was little.
The ‘Omode meta’ singer, as a child had an enormous lump on his chest, a bad health condition which left him crippled.
In an interview with Vanguard, his mother described how difficult it was to take of him with a father that cares little for him.
She explained that while things were generally tough for the family, the worst of her ordeals started when she noticed a lump growing on Tetuila’s chest. “I cried every time I looked at him. I prayed endlessly to God to spare his life and I didn’t give up hope.”
