Tottenham Hotspur crashed out of the Champions League after losing 2-1 away to AS Monaco on Tuesday.
A lacklustre Spurs outfit registered just two shots on target for the entire match in France and lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
Hugo Lloris pulled off a fantastic save to deny Radamel Falcao on 11 minutes, however, it failed to rouse the away side into action.
Monaco took the lead just minutes after the half-time interval through a bullet header from Djibril Sidibe, following a superb cross from Benjamin Mendy.
Dele Alli was felled in the box and Harry Kane’s spot kick gave the English side a route back into the contest.
However, immediately from the re-start the Ligue 1 team pressed on the front foot and Thomas Lemar scored a brilliantly taken drive across Lloris from an acute angle.
With just four points from their five games, Spurs bowed out of the competition and will host CSKA Moscow for a place in the Europa League knowing that a point will be enough.
Here are some of the best reactions on Twitter following the result:
That was appalling. One of the worst Spurs performances I have seen. Just shameful. Pochettino has to take a lot of blame for that #thfc

Poor CL from us, got what we’ve deserved, 4 poor games – next target, avoid the Europa League! #COYS #THFC

Hugo Lloris deserves Champions League football. #THFC do not. The highs, the lows. #COYS

Very poor performance with completely no energy, fight, PASSION or pace. TBH these performances are becoming normal this season #THFC

It’s not even that we went out of the champions league, it’s the way we went out. Looked like we didn’t give a shit

At least we can concentrate on the league to finish in the top 4! #COYS

#THFC abject, embarrassing performance, why so lame after battling so hard for 3rd?

We couldn’t have handpicked a better CL group. The fact we have gone out without even playing well once is an absolute embarrassment. #THFC

All around ‘WHL’ we live by the quote ‘The Game Is About Glory’ yet our cup selections under Pochettino seem to suggest otherwise.#THFC
