Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has warned his players to quit taking selfies after games until the club finally end their trophy drought.
The Argentine appeared seemingly unpleased with his Spurs stars following a 4-2 defeat to Arsenal in Sunday’s North London derby.
Jubilant Gunners players posted a photo after the encounter and Pochettino doesn’t want his own team to follow suit.
“Obviously if you win a trophy like I did when I was a player, it is time to celebrate,” he said.
“Of course, show the fans you are happy, it’s fantastic — but when you win something special.
“I accept people need it. It is how you feed your ego and I accept it is a new world. But I am of the older generation and, personally, I don’t like them.
“This is my mentality. I accept new technology but I try to keep a bit of that away.
“I love to celebrate the things with your team-mates but I love to celebrate in private and not make it public.”
Poch, 46, who won two Spanish Cup finals as a defender with Espanyol, admits he is baffled at people feeling the need to get out their phones to take snaps — at times like when he is walking his pet pooch Sansa in a local park.
The Spurs boss, who faces his former club Southampton at Wembley tonight, said: “I go with my dog to the park and the most important is not to share with your dog, the walk, it’s to share with your followers?
“Well, I am an old person. Old mentality. Maybe I take a picture, or do a video for myself.
“Life is running so quick. But we are talking maybe in dinner or lunch it is me with my phone, him with his phone, and we spent two hours and not enjoying the moment.
“That is happening a lot with the new society and generation. That scares me a little, the future.”
